Yes: The dose your son was given is correct. Make sure he is staying hydrated and don't forget to get him a new tooth brush in a few days (his old one is likely teeming with strep). Hope he starts feeling better really soon!

Seems high: That dose is about 1400 mg per dose which translates into 90 mg/kg per day. this is on the high end of treating resistant strep pneumo for otitis media. Definitely not appropriate dose for strep or pneumonia
