Many spurs are: traction related, so that as tendon pulls at the bone the spur develops. This can happen by the pull of the plantar fascia on the bottom or the achilles tendon in the back of the heel. In the back of the heel it can also be caused by pressure on the back of the heel, so that the counter of the shoe if it rubs a lot that can cause bone growth via Wolf's law….pressure on bone will cause bone to grow
