Yes: Along with protein carb is also important for calories while doing exercise. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

1-1.5 gm/lb body wt : Average healthy adult trying to gain muscle - about 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Hope that helps.
