Eat right & exercise: Unless you have a health reason not to, the best way to get fit is to eat healthily and get regular exercise. A healthy diet for most includes lots of fruits and vegetables, low salt, whole grains, healthy vegetable oils, lean meats or other protein sources, and balanced portion sizes. Healthy exercise is usually about 30 minutes daily and includes both muscle and aerobic (e.g., walking) work.

How to get "fit": First off, i commend you for wanting to get fit. The biggest stumbling block to fitness is usually apathy. If you are serious about getting fit, you have to focus on diet and exercise. All the situps and exercise are not going to benefit you if your diet is poor. Cut out refined sugars, sodas, junk food. Eat mostly vegetables, then find an exercise you enjoy and stay consistent 5-7 days per wk.

Baby Steps.: Start by setting realistic and achievable goals. Too often the task of "getting fit" is ended by trying to do too much too soon. Nothing can incite you to continue with your fitness campaign than the confidence of seeing gains. Going it alone works for some, while others find that a fitness program works better with others along side. Try adjusting your diet to include healthier food choices.
