Yes: Scar tissue is sort-of-hard (harder than a lean, flexed muscle which is the standard for "firm"). The "hard" of cancerous lymph nodes is often almost "bony hard" (like your knuckle).

Lymph node behind right ear has been swollen almost 3 years. Not painful to touch, no redness, and has no grown in size since that time. Part of it feels squishy, but part of it feels hard, the part that rests on jaw. Should I be concerned for cancer?
