Yes.: Any activity that raises your intra-abdominal pressure increases the pressure on the blood trying to return to the heart from the lower half of your body. It is this increased pressure which causes the blood vessels in your rectal area to "blow out" and form a hemorrhoid. straining at stool, weight lifting, child birth and even coughing are commonly associated with hemorrhoids.
