Thought glaucoma was for old people. i'm 58. & have it w/many years ahead. have 30% nerve damage, minor vision .loss. how not to worry about vision?

Diligence: Glaucoma with close follow up by your ophthalmologist, responds well to treatment. There is signficant redundancy in the visual system so a 30% loss is a clear warning but gives you plenty of leeway. Just be sure you take you medication and have regular follow up examinations.

No monopoly for old: Though the incidence of glaucoma, both the open and the narrow angle type, increases with age, the elderly by no means have a monopoly on the disease. Because there is a great deal of overlap in the visual system, a person can function quite well with 30% damage. Best not to worry, but be proactive in following treatment recommendations.
