A member asked:

My 40 y.o mother keeps getting sharp pains towards the left of her lower back/tail bone and it hurts her to sit stand and move. what might this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Check it out.: This region of pain could be si (sacroiliac) joint pain or another cause. A lumbar MRI and evaluation by a neurosurgeon can help determine the source of the pain as well as prescribe treatment such as therapy or injections. There are several possible causes but only a proper eval will clue you in.
