Why are you waiting?: The symptoms that your mother is having leads one to believe that there is likely a problem and left untreated it may become a serious problem. The second toe migrating to the big toe is problematic in that swelling or tissue rupture may be the cause. There is also the possibility of a stress fracture. She needs to have her foot evaluated and given some direction on the treatment plan.
