A member asked:

Can twisting your back hurt an artery? or would it be more muscular or skeletal? i was getting into bed and twisted my back in kind of a funny, awkward way and my lower back a above my tail bone hurts - im just wondering what i could have hurt?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely Arterial: Given your age and description, it is more likely you strained or sprained a ligament. Possibly lumbar, sacral or coccygeal. It is hard to "injure" an artery in your back with a twisting motion. If you have any weakness, numbness, change in bowel or bladder habits seek medical attention.
