A member asked:

If an accident affects the ear and causes minor hearing loss would it affect the person on the long run if not treated early?

Depends: If the cause is fluid/blood behind the ear drum, it will resolve spontaneously. If the cause is minor inner ear hearing loss, it will run its course. Some argue that steroids can reduce damage, but there is no definitive evidence that this is the case. If cause is hearing bone disruption, it will not resolve until surgically fixed.
