Cut down exercise: Peripheral neuropathy makes the muscles weak and tight. Exercise when excessive will cause more reduction in the blood flow since the blood will be shunted to healthier muscles making the feet more numb. Do the exercises with caution immediately stopping to rest when the numbness comes on or progresses. Never do the exercises to fulfill time allotted or number of repetitions.

Let's sort out: Foot numbness may be secondary to nerve compression at medial ankle due to tarsal tunnel but if not, let assume generic peripheral neuropathy. Symptomatic relief can be achieved using gabapentin, and metanx twice daily shows some benefit in small fibre diabetic neuropathy. There are anecdotal claims for the rest but no solid evidence of value. Some underlying causes respond to certain other med.

Neuropathy: The treatment of sensory neuropathy will depend on the cause of the neuropathy. In case of diabetes the best treatment is weight loss plus adequate blood sugar control. Avoid medications or substances that can worsen the neuropathy (ie. Alcohol). Medications like gabapentin, Pregabalin or duloxetine help to reduce pain but do not improve sensation. Continue with exercise. Have a prompt recovery.
