Lipids: The LDL of 157 is high for anyone. If there are risk factors other than the LDL for atherosclerotic disease then getting LDL down is advised. Probably can't get this lower starting at 157 than around 120 so likely need a statin in that case.

Depends on history: For the general population, treatment of LDL doesn't begin until over 160 (or 190) mg/dl and goal is to lower to under 130. For those at high risk of coronary disease, goal is 100, and those who have proven cad, goal is further reduced to 70 mg/dl. If you have other risk factors, it may be appropriate. Either way, diet, exercise, and weight loss are appropriate. Discuss with your doctor.
