A member asked:

Originally had pituitary adenoma and now discussing whether the diagnosis should have been lymphocytic hypophysitis because the mri said hyperplasia?

Proper pathology: If the removed tissue was properly evaluated by a competent expert neuropathologist or endocrine pathologist there should be virtually no room for confusion about adenoma vs hyperplasia. Mri can't be used to dispute a properly performed pathology examination (i'm a neuropathologist). Ask about the credentials if the pathologist and see about a second opinion from an expert.

The slides: Most pathology departments save the slides. They can be reexamined by another pathologist. The original MRI can be reexamined too. Lymphocytic hypophysitis is relatively uncommon. Other autoimmune endocrine syndromes (eg hashimotos, addison's)?
