A member asked:

I had an mri to check for a possible skull-based tumor. could this mri also be used to determine if i have a prolactinoma or a pituitary adenoma/tumor, or would i need a new mri?

Talk to radiologist: MRI of brain should show clear views of pituitary region, and could potentially show local pathology such as an adenoma. If report did not mention such pathology, unlikely that this is abnormal. The type of adenoma, if visualized, would need further testing to pin down. Discuss these issues and your concerns with your doctor and radiologist to gain a better perspective.
