Rarely diagnosed: Cadaver studied showed less than 1/25 or so, but this was in a fairly specific geographic group. I'm not an endocrinologist, but if that's remotely close to the prevalence, i'll say most endos probably have one.

Rare: Clinically apparent lymphocytic hypophysitis is truly rare. I have only seen a few cases in my 30 years of practice. It is possible that it can occur on a subclinical basis causing few symptoms, and appearing as an enlarged pituitary on mri. However, unless you have loss of pituitary function, it would be very difficult to confirm the diagnosis.
