Guarded: Metastatic lung cancer has a pretty bad prognosis as I am sure his oncologist would have told him or you. The avergae survival is 6 months to 12 months. But there are some new treatments recently made available which have increased survivorship. These treatments depend on gene test results done on his tumor. Just ask your docotr if his cancer has been tested for gene mutations and if he is a candi.

Poor: I am terribly sorry, he has very advanced cancer and his prognosis is very poor. I would recommend focusing on comfort for whatever time he is given. Best wishes to both.
