Not related: This is usually not a related issue. Why do you need to get numb? How does this relate to invisalign?

Why?: I'm guessing you are concerned about the removal of the "attachments" and polishing the teeth. Although there can be some sensitivity, perhaps taking some Motrin an hour before this procedure would be enough. If not, discuss your concerns with your orthodontist regarding using either topical or injectable anesthetic.

?: You should not need to be numbed for any invisalign procedures.

Yes: Yes but i find that most patients do ok without numbing. The buttons are fairly easy to remove without having to give you a shot. If your teeth are generally sensitive consider placing 1.1% sodium Fluoride gel into your aligners every night for a few weeks. It shoud help.

Possible: Removing the attachments is simple, but air blows on your tooth. Just ask your orthodontist to stop with a signal like raising your hand if your tooth gets too cold. Taking ibuprophen before your appointment may help. Getting shots to numb your teeth seems like it would be much more painful.

Not needed: You should be taking your invisalign on and off every day at meal time. Can't imagine there is pain in doing so and that you would need to numb anything at any time during treatment.

Not necessary: Although clear trays should be worn as much as possible (20-22 hrs/day), they should be removed for contact sports, oral hygiene procedures, eating, and drinking anything acidic. You will be shown how to put them in and remove them as the need arises. There should be no pain from insertion or removal, just some soreness as the teeth are repositioned.
