I think i have asthma. never diagnosed by a doctor. i have a sharp pain, like a pin stick, when i breathe in. it is very uncomfortable. any ideas?

Check with your doc: No need to wait. Check with your lung doc! asap. Make sure it is asthma and not something else like pulmonary embolism.

Painful breathing: By definition, you have pleurisy which means pain with breathing. There are numerous causes and while some who have asthma have chest discomfort-pain is not a typical symptom.
