MRI is the best test: Currently, a breast MRI with a dedicated breast coil in a 1.5 tesla MRI is the best test we have to look for gel leak. I would consider speaking with your plastic surgeon first. If the ultrasound shows a leak, you and your surgeon can consider just getting it removed and/or replaced without the mri.

Implant rupture: Mri is the gold standard to determine in the implant is intact or not. The presence of a small amount of fluid on ultrasound may be a clue that there is a leak. Mri will confirm before potentially having surgery.
