Can flat feet cause other problems?

Yes: Flat feet, also called pes planus, can lead to abnormal biomechanics. Conditions that may be caused or worsened by flat feet include plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, Achilles and other tendonitis and patellofemoral syndrome in the knee. However, a careful history and exam by an orthopaedist can determine whether your flat feet are a problem. Flat feet without symptoms require no treatment.
