See a Podiatrist: This sounds alarming! if you have an open wound, you should get it looked at soon by a wound specialist. It certainly could result in significant problems if not taken care of.

Yes: Not sure what you mean by crater but it sounds like it could be an open wound? You need to see a podiatrist asap. If it is an open wound it needs taken care of immediately.
