Not standard: This is not standard therapy for merkel cell carcinoma. The standard therapy would be to surgically remove the tumor with a rim of normal skin. Usually it is advisable also surgically evaluate the nearby lymph nodes as well. In some cases, chemotherapy or radiation therapy is also used.
