No idea: Without more info, it is impossible to tell what this "something" might be. Is it a radiolucency? Is it calcified? Did the tooth have root canal therapy? Are you in pain? How long has it been there? If the dentist who examined you does not know its origin, then please see an oral surgeon for a definitive diagnosis which may include a biopsy.
