Is it possible for my 3 year old to have strep throat and the flu at the same time?

Yes: His/her dr. Can test for strep. We usually prefer to make a single diagnosis, but both could co-exist. Strep throat should be treated with an antibiotic. There is only symptomatic relief for the flu. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is said to reduce flu symptoms for beween 1/2 - 1 day and probably not worth taking.
