Male adolescent:sore throat,excessive thirst,emotional.took to doctor a few times,they said not flu or strep, checked neck; said they couldn't find anything; one said it could be allergy. could they have missed a beginning thyroid issue?

Maybe...but: The symptoms cited are not suggestive of a thyroid issue. An early thyroid issue would only be evident on either physical exam or blood tests. Since the symptoms do not suggest a thyroid issue I wouldn't expect such tests to be ordered.

Etiology unknown...: I agree with Dr. Ferguson. I am sorry, if multiple doctors who examined your son, obtained a history & possibly did other studies were not able to find an etiology for his issues, I am not sure that we will be able to with the limited info that we have. However, if you son is having issues with being emotional, it could be teen angst or something more serious. Considered an eval by a therapist if
