Not clear. : Depending on your type of kidney problem, modest protein restriction may be useful although severe restriction may cause malnutrition. An average person requires about 1g/day protein per kg body weight. For your size, about 100-120 g protein should be sufficient, but you should ask your doctor for specific advice since he/she knows your unique medical and nutritional needs better than any of us.

Protein intake: At your present level of kidney function, you do not have to severely restrict protein intake. You do need to get on a weight reducing diet as soon you can. Your weight is clearly in the obese range. People who are obese lose their kidney function faster than those that are not. Do you have hypertension or diabetes? If so, are they under control? Consult with your doctor to get his opinion.
