Does a low gfr always mean kidney disease? sle pt.in hosp 4months ago. dark brown urine and +4 protein but dr said kid fine.hep dr just found gfr 43.

GFR of 43: If real GFR is 43, you have stage 3 ckd. If may be caused by your proteinuria. Speak to a nephrologist to see if your proteinuria is caused by a disease that can be treated. After finding out its cause, see if you can preserve or recover some kidney function, or not lose any more by some form of treatment of the underlying disease causing your proteinuria. Good luck.
