A member asked:

Recently had thorough eye health check from optician about a small, fixed, persistent fuzzy shape in right eye, they suggested floater, sound right?

Could be: Be sure that the doctor did a dilated exam of the back of the eye. They would have put in drops and had you wait 15-30 minutes for the drops to have worked.

Yes: "floaters" usually increase with age and are due to small opacities in the liquid/ gel mixture that fill the back of the eye. ( vitreous). The clouded areas cast a shadow into the back of the eye that you perceive in your vison. New floaters need to be evaluated to make sure you are not developing a retina tear of detachment.
