Done: If it reoccurs after one attempt, it is very unlikely that aspiration alone will be a permanent fix. If it is painful, consider having it surgically excised.

1-2: If the size of the ganglion does not appear to be improving each time, it is probably time to pull the plug and have it removed. These cysts are notorious for recurring after aspiration, and a proper excision will identify the source, and close it off. I have found if success has not been reached after 1 or 2 aspirations, surgical excision is the answer. Good luck!

No limit but....: There is no set number of times that a ganglion can be aspirated. Sometimes they go away with one and sometimes they persist. A persistent ganglion could be an indicator of a rate tumor. It is a good idea to have the fluid expressed from the ganglion examined by a pathologist to see if all the cells in the fluid are clean and healthy. I find it helps to inject a little corticosteroid into the gang.
