Maybe: An elevated sed rate is a very nonspecific test and could be related to any source of inflammation. Without more history of your pelvic pain, it is difficult to know whether the pelvic x-ray will be helpful. If there is a possibility that the pain is from the bone, then a pelvic x-ray could help. If the pain relates to the soft tissues of the pelvis, an x-ray is likely not indicated.

Non-GYN: An xray is not good for visualizing the pelvic organs. The only gyn cause of pain it will show is (possibly)a type of ov cyst called a dermoid. Your dr may be suspecting a musculoskeletal cause - or maybe gi. But x-ray is not usually very helpful in diagnosing causes of pelvic pain.

Arthritis: Pelvic x ray can look for arthritis. Ultrasound is limited in evaluation of arthritis. Ultrasound would visualize uterus and ovaries.
