A member asked:

What is the definition or description of: ultrasound shows clot in leg or pelvis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

DVT: Deep venous thrombosis is diagnosed by an ultrasound test where the main criteria is that the vein can be completely compressed by the ultrasound probe. Doppler( a way to measure the velocity of blood and show the flow of blood) is a secondary way to look at the vein. The most immediate problem is they can break off and cause a life threatening pulmonary embolus.
