Not really: Lipomas are benign fatty tumors. They typically bother patients more because of the way they look , but also can cause irritation depending on size and location. If problematic they are best removed surgically and is typically and office based procedure or day surgery. The tissue is sent to pathology to assure it is benign. It is a very safe proceedure.

No: Lipomas are benign rumors of subcutaneous fat it is not always safe to presume a mass is a lipoma and surgical removal gets rid of the mass and enables an accurate diagnosis.
