Lipoma: They are typically found in superficial locations (can feel them just beneath the skin). The skin is injected with a local anesthetic. The skin overlying the lipoma is incised, and the lipoma is dissected out an removed, usually in one piece. It is sent to pathology for detailed analysis. Sometimes light sedation is administered by an anesthesiologist. Deep lesions may require a bigger operation.
