A recent pets can revealed that an 82 year old has significant brain loss and the brain is about 29% functioning. is that normal for that age?

No: Assuming regular exercise & proper nutrition (as well as a bit of good luck), there's no reason one has to lose brain function as we age, certainly not over 2/3 by 82yo. Moreover, a pet scan is pretty advanced in assessing brain function at that age unless you're looking for signs of alzheimer's disease. More important than scan image is clinical function. How is this 82yo doing day-to-day?
