No baby or adult: Sleeps straight through without a brief period of alerting. The longest deep sleep period for baby or adult is about 4 hours. Most adults drift up to a shallow alert state & drift back down in cycles. Babies who sleep "thru the night" have learned to resettle after their first sleep period. If you feed or rock them to sleep, they seldom return to sleep until you start the ritual over.

"Trained Night: Feeding" occurs ~ 6 mos. & persists till you ignore his night-crying consistently, even though it gets worse for a few nights before it stops completely. Establish a consistent bedtime & routine; read, brush his teeth after his last bottle & put him in his own bed, drowsy but awake, so he learns to self-calm to fall back to sleep. See www.Aap.Org for tips if you're tempted to go in his room.
