It is always safe: If a detailed evaluation of the patient has been completed before any type of light, deep sedation, and general anesthesia is given. Oral surgeons have extensive training in management of patients under any sedation, there is special cases in which the oral surgeon would have an anesthesiologist doing the anesthesia, and him/herself doing the oral or maxillofacial surgery to prevent complications.

Depends: Depends on provider qualifications, acls knowledge of support staff, equipment in the office, coexisting medical problems of the patient. Assuming all is in order, should be relatively safe.

Yes: There is specific credentialling required for office based anesthesia. I am sure your oral surgeon follows these guidelines. These precautions improve the safety of all patients. If you have questions talk to your surgeon or their anesthesiologist and see what they have to say.

Yes: Oral surgeons have extensive training in sedation and/or general anesthesia, and have been performing outpatient surgery in their offices for a long time. With any office that performs in office anesthesia, having trained personnel, proper monitoring equipment, medications, and safe operating protocols are a must. Most oral surgeons must meet the established guidelines in order to provide it.
