A member asked:

My oral surgeon wants me to have an oral ct scan in his office. exactly what will an oral ct scan show my oral surgeon? can you please tell me all the different problems that an oral ct scan will show him? thank you very much?

CT scan: Allows surgeon to view structures in 3 dimensions. The list of what can be seen would be too long for this forum. Your Oral surgeon is probably trying to see the relationship of anatomic structures (teeth, bone, nerve, blood vessels, etc) to each other skas to be better able to plan treatment. It's a whole lot better than working blind.
