Make some calls..: The fastest way to get an appointment with an oral surgeon is to call some located in your community. Discuss your desires with the surgeon. If your teeth are extremely difficult to extract, deep anesthesia is the way to go.

You are correct: Your assumption is correct. Check with the local dental society for a listing of oral surgeons. From there start contacting them ; let them know your concern. I'm sure you'll find some that will do the extractions with local anesthesia.
