A member asked:

I went to the er for severe pain due to gallbladder sludge. doc said sludge is extremely large and gb needs to be removed. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The doctor is right.: Gallbladder sludge is a conglomerate of small flakes, granules, and tiny stones. Eventually it becomes larger stones. If you have typical biliary symptoms with sludge, you'd be better off with cholecystectomy. For now, eat a lower fat diet, stay hydrated, and find a capable surgeon. Good luck.
