Not true: 15% function of the gallbladder indicates that the source of pain might be the lack of emptying. If no stones are present that will not cause gangrene, but pain will persist and that is the main indication for removal.

Gallbladder: Decreased gallbladder ejection fraction is unlikely to progress to severe infection. More than likely pain and nausea would just continue to get worse. Recommend avoiding fatty foods in the meantime.
