More: A person who does not walk smoothly (has gait problems) will not be walking as efficiently as somebody with a normal, smooth gait. That means a person with CP uses up more energy during walking, compared to someone with normal gait, but the amount of energy difference is too hard to calculate.

More calories: Due to your cerebral palsy, you will actually burn more calories per distance travelled due to the increased work of your walking pattern as well as having to work against your spasticity ( muscle tightness). The more severe your cerebral palsy is the more calories you will burn.
