A member asked:

How do i explain to my parents what it is like to have an anxiety disorder so that they would understand?

Talking to parents: Talking to parents about mental health problems can be very difficult. Many parents have no experience of counseling or psychiatric disorders and may have old fashioned notions (like it means you're crazy'). I would ask them if they've noticed anything different about you lately? What? Why do they think that has happened? Listen to them try to explain, and then offer what you think or understand.
