Topical desens.: In addition to sensodyne toothpaste there are topical desensitizers than can be applied to sensitive root surfaces in a dental office. These can sometimes be very helpful as can patience with the sensodyne. Sometimes it takes weeks to see results.

Prescription: Your dentist may also be able to prescribe a toothpaste such as fluoridex or prevident to help. It is not an over-the-counter product.
