A member asked:

My surgeon nicked a vein and had to open me up to repair it. it's been ten (10) days and i'm still having a lot of pain where he fixed the hernia. ?

Not unexpected: It's not uncommon for some patients to have post op pain for 10-21 days after repair. Even later some soreness will persist. There is certainly pain involved after open and laparoscopic procedures. The use of anti-inflammatory agents like advil or aleve (naproxen) can help. Ice helps for 3-4 days, then heat can be applied as needed. Discuss your soreness with your surgeon at your post op visit. Good luck.
