Check his : Credentials with the state's medical boards. Laparoscopic surgery has more advantages - shorter surgery time, faster recovery. Discuss with your surgeon any concerns u have.It is a low risk surgery vs heart and brain operation. Bless u!

How to trust a Doc: There are a few options for this. I often hope my patients ask me, as their primary doc, if i trust or recommend a surgeon. You can go online to see what patients are saying, but online reviews can be biased or inaccurate. Your insurance company may have information they can share if there is anything of concern.

Common dilema: Surgeon should have discussed this with, including pros & cons of laparoscopic (keyhole) versus open surgery. Hopefully surgeon can do it both ways. You can certainly call dr's office & ask how many of each surgeon does. Many people would be wary of a hernia surgeon who does less than 25/year. Ask an operating room nurse or surgeon, who works at hernia surgeon's hospital for endorsement, if poss.
