My surgeon told me that my ventral hernia may have come back and if it has he will have to do an open repair. what am i looking at as far as recovery ?

Depends: Recurrent hernias are unfortunately a fact of life. Recovery period is highly dependent on the complexity of the operation. Just make sure your surgeon will be changing something regarding the technique. If it didn't work once, you don't want to repeat the problems of the past. Call the surgeons office for anticipated recovery time for your specific case. I'm sure they will be happy to help.

2 to 3 months: It's usually a 2 to 5 day stay and no lifting for at least 2 months. Some may have to have drain tubes for few weeks. Need to discuss with ur surgeon.
