Ask for pain med: An injection should not be particularly painful - and the doctor can numb the area first. Try to relax, and you may be surprised at how easy it is to get through it. Talk to you doctor about your concerns.

NO it typically: Does not hurt. Are all different and some are more apprehensive though. If you are pulling away it wont likely damage anything but it will prolong the whole experience. In my hand the actual injection part with the needle takes a few seconds. If you are that flustered dont go on a totally empty stomach and have someone along just in case you dont feel like driving. People do "faint" with needle.

Hurts a little: A cortisone injection for cts given by a hand surgeon is mildly painful. If you feel a shock, your doctor will adjust the needle. Therre is no reason to pull away. If you are scared remind the doctor to hold you hand.
