Suggest you use a wrist splint at night, start vitamin B-6 supplements (do NOT exceed 400 mg daily), start OTC NSAID if your stomach can handle, and consider seeing a hand specialist. Steroid injections are transient and not permanent solution in vast majority of cases.

Steroid injections for carpal tunnel are used primarily as a diagnostic and predictive tool. They usually last a very short time but if you have a good response than that supports diagnosis and a good response is a good prognostic indicator of a good result with surgical release.
