Maybe: Corticosteroid shots are commonly used for carpal tunnel syndrome. However, the effects are variable. They tend to be most helpful in individuals with mild disease that has been present for a shorter period of time (< 1 year). More advanced or severe cts is not likely to have a lasting response from a steroid injection.

Yes: A steroid injection will temporarily relieve carpal tunnel symptoms in about 80 % of cases. It may last for a few weeks to several months but the symptoms will almost always recur eventually.
